PRF and PRP: EZ Gel Under Eye Filler Treatment and nasal labial fold treatment...Winter Haven, Florida

EZGel Plasma Filler aka Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a 100% natural, regenerative and volumizing filler that contains both serum albumin and growth factors obtained through your own blood source. Using the body’s own powerful proteins, instead of relying on artificial components, plasma filler is a prime treatment for skin rejuvenation and volumization.

What is Plasma Rich Fibrin (PRF)?

Plasma Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a natural substance derived from a patient’s own blood. PRF is obtained by taking a small amount of the patient’s blood and placing it in a centrifuge machine that separates the blood cells and plasma. The plasma is then collected and used for cosmetic procedures. PRF contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells, which are important for the body’s natural healing process. It can be injected directly into the skin or mixed with other substances such as hyaluronic acid to enhance its effects.

How is PRF used in cosmetic procedures?

PRF is an increasingly popular cosmetic treatment that offer a range of benefits for various aesthetic concerns. PRF is commonly used in cosmetic procedures such as facials, microneedling, and hair restoration. Here are some of the most common and unique applications of PRF in cosmetic procedures:

  • Facial rejuvenation: PRF can be used to improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote overall skin health.

  • Scar revision and acne scarring: PRF can help reduce the appearance of scars from acne, injury, or surgery.

  • Hair restoration: PRF can stimulate hair growth and improve the thickness and density of hair in areas of hair loss or thinning.

  • Lip enhancement: PRF can be used to enhance the shape, volume, and definition of the lips.

  • Hand rejuvenation: PRF can improve the appearance of aging hands by reducing the visibility of veins and tendons and improving skin quality.

What are the benefits of using PRF in cosmetic procedures?

  • PRF promotes collagen production, which can improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

  • It can also improve skin hydration and elasticity.

  • PRF can enhance the results of other cosmetic procedures and reduce recovery time.

  • It may serve as an alternate cosmetic injectable procedure for patients that have a contraindication or would like an alternative to traditional injectable filler

  • Chin augmentation: EZgel can be used to enhance the chin and improve the overall balance of the face.

  • Jawline enhancement: EZgel can be used to create a more defined jawline and improve the overall contour of the face.

Treatment areas: The most common areas to treat are the face, neck and décolleté. Your provider will apply a topical numbing agent to reduce any pain or discomfort during this procedure.

Contraindications: Microneedling cannot be done on an area with an active bacterial, viral or fungal infection. It is contraindicated in patients with active acne, skin related autoimmune disorders, rashes, warts, skin cancer, patients on anticoagulants, women who are pregnant or lactating, history of recent ablative dermal procedures, actinic keratosis, rosacea, diabetes, and keloid scars.

Before your appointment: For best results, it is beneficial to use a retinol product on your skin for 6 weeks prior to starting a microneedling series. However, you should avoid any retinol products on your skin for 3 days prior to your appointment.

Side effects, risks and possible complications: Side effects are minimal with this type of treatment and typically include minor flaking or dryness of the skin with scab formation in rare cases.

After your appointment: After your treatment, your practitioner will send you home with products to use while your skin is recovering. Your skin may appear pink or red, like a sunburn, for 24-48 hours after your treatment. Minor bruising is possible depending on the aggressiveness of the procedure. Post treatment instructions include no sweaty exercise or sun exposure for 72 hours. You also cannot wash your face for 24 hours after your treatment.

Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to the remodeling of collagen and elastin. Microneedling, in other words, is collagen induction therapy.

It is great for patients who want to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, large pores and texture issues.

It is recommended to undergo a series of 3-6 treatments, separated by 6 weeks each, for optimal results. One maintenance treatment every 6-9 months is recommended for long-lasting results.

How PRF Stimulates Hair Growth

PRF hair restoration takes advantage of platelets’ growth factors to enhance the hair growth cycle. When PRF is applied to the scalp, several key mechanisms come into play:

  1. Stem Cell Activation: PRF contains growth factors like platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which are known to stimulate stem cells present in hair follicles. These stem cells play a vital role in maintaining and regenerating hair follicles.

  2. Angiogenesis: Growth factors in PRF promote angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels. Improved blood circulation means that hair follicles receive an increased supply of oxygen, nutrients, and essential building blocks, supporting healthier hair growth.

  3. Prolonged Anagen Phase: PRF’s growth factors extend the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. This leads to longer periods of active hair growth and ultimately results in thicker, healthier hair.

  4. Hair Follicle Miniaturization Reversal: In conditions like androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness), hair follicles progressively miniaturize, producing thinner hair strands. PRF has the potential to reverse this miniaturization process, restoring the follicles to a healthier state.

The PRF Hair Restoration Process

  1. Consultation: Before any treatment, our experts will conduct a thorough evaluation of your hair loss condition. This assessment helps determine if PRF is the most suitable option for your specific case.

  2. Blood Collection: A small blood sample is taken from your arm, just like when you have blood drawn for a regular check-up.

  3. Centrifugation: The collected blood is placed in a centrifuge, where it’s spun at high speeds to separate the platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells from the rest of the blood components.

  4. PRF Application: The resulting PRF solution is skillfully injected into the areas of your scalp that require treatment. These injections are strategically placed to maximize the benefits.

  5. Recovery and Maintenance: Post-treatment care instructions will be provided to ensure optimal healing. Depending on your progress, periodic PRF sessions may be recommended to maintain and enhance the results.

More about Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

PRP is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole blood, centrifuged to remove red blood cells. We collect YOUR OWN blood, while in the office and prepare them with a centrifuge.

This "liquid gold" is then injected back into the joint space where it can repair damaged tissue and support healing.

This is a widespread and very popular treatment for a variety of conditions.
